Call Northside 777 is considered one of the first films – if not the first – to shoot on location. Back in the day, it was too expensive for studios to film their movies off the lot. However, this film noir, which adapted a true life incident, presenting it in a semi-documentary fashion, broke from tradition to capture actual places in Chicago connected to the tale.
In fact, at the beginning of the picture, it states:
"This film was photographed in the State of Illinois using wherever possible, the actual locales associated with the story."
Take a look at some of the locations caught on camera – some of which are no longer in existence. Locations include Holy Trinity Polish Mission, the Wrigley Building, Chicago Merchandise Mart, and more.
